New Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has launched a scathing attack against what he claims is a wave of "fake news" circulating under his name, specifically refuting a fabricated statement concerning the Indian Rupee and US Dollar. In a strongly worded video message, Tiwari expressed concern that these erroneous reports are even being disseminated by reputable media channels, vowing immediate legal action against those responsible.

The alleged statement attributed to Tiwari, which he categorically denies, reads, "The people of our country carry rupees in their pockets and shop with rupees. We have nothing to do with dollars. Whether the dollar is expensive or cheap, it will have no impact on the people of our country!"

Tiwari vehemently dismissed this quote as "completely baseless," asserting that it runs contrary to his and his party's unwavering commitment to promoting digital transactions and the nation's push towards a cashless economy. He highlighted that he and the BJP actively encourage online payments and the widespread adoption of digitalisation, making the "rupee in your pocket" narrative a stark contradiction to his public stance.

In his video address, the BJP MP displayed screenshots of several news channels he claims have propagated this false narrative. He specifically named News24, Khbargaon, and NBT as outlets that have carried the misleading story, attributing to him a statement he never made.

Expressing dismay that "good" media channels were inadvertently or intentionally circulating such misinformation, Tiwari announced that his team of lawyers would be dispatching legal notices to these channels and any other digital platforms found to be spreading the fabricated news. He expressed his decision to pursue stringent legal action to hold those accountable for disseminating what he deems damaging and untrue statements.
