Breaking News Live Updates, November 27, 2025: Hong Kong's deadliest fire in decades have killed at least 44 people and hundreds remain missing. The fire began on Wednesday afternoon in an eight-building complex that has around 2,000 apartments. The police have arrested at least three persons so far in the case on suspicion of manslaughter.

Case filed over alleged land grab linked to Vasai Police Station

The Palghar police’s Economic Offences Wing has registered a cheating and forgery case over the alleged encroachment of land belonging to Vasai Police Station. Seven people, including civic officials, have been named in the FIR for allegedly creating fake documents to legitimise an illegal road on survey number 9, providing access to a bungalow built by former corporator Jamil Sheikh in violation of CRZ norms. No arrests have been made so far.

Telangana seizes over 1,900 expired items in e-commerce warehouse raids

Telangana’s food safety officers seized over 1,900 units of expired and mislabelled food items during a special drive across e-commerce warehouses. Conducted on November 25 and 26, the inspection covered 75 units, where officials found expired packets, stale food and rotten vegetables. A total of 32 improvement notices were issued. Food Safety Commissioner Sangita Satyanarayana warned that no company would be spared for violating safety norms.

Andhra govt procures 8.2 lakh tonne paddy, transfers Rs 1,713 crore to farmers

Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister N Manohar said the state has procured 8.22 lakh tonne of paddy so far and deposited Rs 1,713 crore into farmers’ accounts, with payments made within four to six hours of procurement. Urging farmers to avoid middlemen, he said MSP-based procurement is running transparently across districts. The government has arranged seven crore gunny bags, deployed GPS-equipped lorries, and is prepared to procure 51 lakh tonne as per central norms.

23 shots fired at AAP leader’s house in Punjab, police probe extortion angle

Two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at the residence of AAP leader Daljit Singh Raju near Darvesh Pind village in Punjab’s Phagwara area early Thursday, police said. Around 23 rounds were fired, damaging windows and door panes, though no one was injured. A handwritten note demanding Rs 5 crore was found, prompting police to investigate extortion or gangster links. A case has been registered under BNS and Arms Act provisions, and CCTV footage is being examined.

Three held for murder after burnt body found on highway in Thane

Police in Thane district have arrested three men after the partially burnt, decomposed body of a Karnataka resident, Tipanna, was found along the Nashik–Mumbai highway near Cherpoli village. The accused, Fayyaz Zakir Hussain Sheikh, Sikandar Badshah Mujawar and Ghulam Akbar Iftikhar Maulvi, have been remanded in custody till December 3. Initial investigation suggests the murder was linked to an "immoral relationship.” They have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

PM Modi to unveil world’s tallest Ram statue in Goa today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a 77-feet-tall bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in South Goa on Friday, officials said. Delhi CM says pollution control drive underway across city

Andhra police bust cyber fraud ring linked to Cambodia

Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested 14 members of an international cyber scam syndicate accused of duping a 75-year-old retired professor from Bhimavaram of more than Rs 78 lakh. The fraud, carried out on November 17 through WhatsApp calls by impersonators posing as Bengaluru Police, involved a fabricated Supreme Court document. Raids across multiple districts led to the recovery of Rs 42 lakh, freezing of Rs 20 lakh, and seizure of mobile phones and documents. A key Mumbai-based operative remains absconding.

Two from Indore family killed in fog-hit highway crash

Two members of an Indore-based family, including a 55-year-old woman, were killed and three others critically injured when their speeding car hit a stationary truck amid dense morning fog in Sehore district on Thursday. The crash occurred near a dhaba on the Indore–Bhopal highway. Police said the driver likely failed to see the parked truck. A case has been registered against the truck driver.

RSS-linked teachers’ body writes to EC over SIR: Here is why

Amid the controversy over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has shot off a sharply-worded letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The RSS-linked teachers' body has expressed grave concern over SIR of electoral rolls, an Indian Express report said. The SIR exercise is currently underway in nine states and three Union Territories (UTs). The ABRSM has called for both an extension of the stipulated deadline and Rs 1 crore in compensation for the families of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who died allegedly while carrying out the process.
