Harshvardhan Jain, caught for running fake embassy started Horse Premier League: Police
The man arrested for allegedly running fake embassies in Ghaziabad was also involved in starting a Horse Premier League (HPL), The league was running on the lines of IPL. The investigators found photographs of Jain with former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and said the HPL sponsors list included names of some big Bollywood celebrities.
New Delhi: Harshvardhan Jain, who was caught for running fake embassies in Ghaziabad, had also started a Horse Premier League (HPL), revealed investigations by the Uttar Pradesh STF. The documents recovered by the investigators show 16 teams shortlisted for the HPL, which includes teams from India, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, UAE, UK and America.
Accused has several shell firms, foreign bank accounts: Investigators
The investigations in the case also revealed that the accused, Jain has several shell firms and bank accounts abroad. The money trail was found in Cameroon, Mauritius, UAE and UK, said the STF.
So far the investigators have found 11 bank accounts linked to the accused. Of these 11, 6 are in Dubai, 3 in Mauritius, 1 is in London and 1 in India. The man allegedly raised Rs 10 crore from title sponsorship, Rs 8 crore from co-sponsors and another Rs 7 crore from associate sponsors.
A picture showing Jain at a HPL event with former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin has also surfaced, according to reports. In fact the list of patrons of HPL includes big names from Bollywood like, Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Jain used to dupe people in the name of getting them employment abroad. He cheated several people.
