Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently announced the addition of Islamic studies to the state's school curriculum. The announcement was made during an event marking the 1500th year of the Prophet Muhammad's birth. MK Stalin stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party supports the Muslim community and opposes the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the new Wakf law, and the practice of triple talaq.
He also criticised the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)'s stance on these issues. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded by accusing MK Stalin of engaging in communal appeasement politics to gain votes.
