‘Somebody wants me...’: G Parameshwara throws hat in the ring for Karnataka CM
G Parameshwara's statement has come amid reports of tensions between Siddamaiah and DK Shivakumar over Karnataka CM post. The top leadership of the Congress have said that the issue would be resolved soon.
Bengaluriu: Even as there are reports of uneasiness between Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar, state’s Home Minister G Parameshwara has also thrown his hat in the right. The senior Congress leader has claimed that some people in the party wanted to see him as the state chief minister.
"Somebody wants DK Shivakumar as chief minister, somebody wants Siddaramaiah to continue, and somebody wants me to be the chief minister, and somebody wants somebody else. ,” he said while speaking to news agency ANI.
‘You cannot stop the aspirations of people.’
The home minister added, " So you cannot stop the aspirations of the people. Every time there is a talk about the Chief Minister, whether after the election or somewhere in between, Dalits express their aspirations. There is nothing wrong with it. I don't think it is wrong. It is up to the high command. All these developments are definitely watched by the high command. They take note of these developments, and they'll resolve them.”
Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah invited Shivakumar at his residence for a breakfast meeting. After the meeting, both leaders attended a joint press conference and claimed that all was fine between the two senior Congress leaders in the state.
Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar reject rumours
Addressing the press conference later, Siddaramaiah said, "I had a breakfast meeting with Shivakumar as some confusion was created by the media. Both of us has differences. Even today there were no differences, and there won't be in the in future either.”
"We don't have factionalism. We will go together, take everyone along and abide by the party high command." Shivakumar said while speaking to the media. He added that both leaders discussed the strategy for the 2028 assembly polls at he breakfast meeting. He further claimed that both leaders also discussed ways to deal with the no-confidence motion if the need arises.
