Hyderabad: Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) has shut down about 305 companies across the state between January 2024 to October 2025 for violating pollution control norms, reports said.
In the same time frame, at least 2,620 new companies have acquired approvals for establishment and 3,521 units have been given consent for operations, after adhering to environmental norms of water and air pollution control.
The control board conducted review of pollutants for 2,069 industries and have issued compliance notices for 1,234 of them. About 697 of them were later issued closure revocation notices after they returned to comply with the PCB regulations.
The state is home to 12,264 industries which are categorised by the CPCB as Red, Orange, Green and White based on the pollution severity. These industries are monitored regularly, issued notices and penalties to control pollution effectively.
Between Jan 2024 and Oct 2025, about 8,000 waste water and hazardous waste samples, 3,087 air pollutant samples were collected for strict pollution management.
Monitoring cell set up:
A 24/7 monitoring cell has been set up for to track emissions continuously and to monitor pollutants from highly polluting industries.
About 108 industries, which exceeded pollution levels, have been identified and have been asked to implement corrective measures. They have been warned of legal action in case of non-compliance.
The TGPCB is dealing with water pollution, especially from drug and chemical industries, by implementing Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems strictly and highlighting the reuse of treated waste water.
The public can use the toll-free helpline (10741) and a mobile app – ‘Janavani Kalushya Nivarini’ for quick resolution of complaints and night patrolling is also being implemented in industrial zones.
