AAPs Rajesh Gupta breaks down while joining BJP, reveals reason behind Kejriwals downfall | Watch

New Delhi: Ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypolls, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former two-time MLA Rajesh Gupta joined the BJP on Saturday in a significant political move in the national capital. Gupta, AAP's former national spokesperson and Karnataka in-charge, joined the BJP in the presence of Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva.

After joining the BJP, Gupta said, "They (AAP) don’t care about the people now who left their jobs during Anna Andolan. Many people want to leave (AAP), and I think they should. It’s not easy. They should go somewhere where they get respect, a party which doesn't use and throw their workers."

He added, "I was at the party, but their convenor neither spoke to me nor visited me. Arvind ji, you will have to think about why people are leaving you. I always fought for you, even on television." He became emotional about his AAP years, how he was allegedly mocked, and broke down while speaking. He alleged that the party and Arvind Kejriwal's fortunes have dwindled as it practices treating its workers in a "use and throw” fashion.

Gupta alleged that Kejriwal had betrayed every well-known person who joined hands with him during the formation of the party, and hence, everyone left. He said, "Today, unfortunately, I have also joined that list." He claimed that in the MCD polls, AAP has fielded someone from Ashok Vihar whom the party had served a notice, and it dismissed his own concerns. The AAP leaders ignored him despite "years of sincerity, honesty and loyalty". Notably, the BJP soundly defeated AAP in the last Delhi Assembly elections.
