TVK Chief Vijay held his first public meeting today in Puducherry since the tragic Karur stampede. The event at Uppalam Expo Ground was marked by exceptionally strict security and crowd control measures.
Attendance was capped at 5,000 individuals, with entry strictly regulated via QR code passes issued by the party. Puducherry police denied permission for any roadshow, and Vijay addressed supporters from a specially arranged campaign van between 10 AM and 12 PM IST.
A significant restriction included barring Tamil Nadu residents from travelling to Puducherry for the event to prevent overcrowding, with police checkpoints enforcing this order. This appearance marks Vijay’s first major public address since the September 27th Karur stampede, where 41 lives were lost. Officials confirmed that safety protocols were closely monitored throughout the programme.
