New Delhi: A 29-year-old Chinese national was arrested in Budgam for allegedly entering Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir without permission. However, taking advantage of his appearance resembling that of locals, the Chinese national visited Leh on November 20 and did not register at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office counter located at the Leh airport. In Leh, he stayed in Zanskar region for three days and visited places of importance in the Himalayan town. On December 1, he went to Srinagar.
His phone's search history showed that he looked for the deployment of CRPF in the valley. He had bought an Indian SIM card from the open market, according to the officials.
In Srinagar, the Chinese national chose an unregistered guest house for his stay. He visited a Buddhist religious place at Harwan.

His phone data also revealed that he had also visited Awantipur ruins in South Kashmir, which is located near Victor Force headquarters of the army in South Kashmir. Shankracharya hills, Hazratbal, Mughal Garden and the Dal Lake, were among the few places the Chinese national toured in Srinagar.

Hu has completed his graduation in Physics from Boston University and has claimed that he likes to travel. His passport shows that he has visited various countries, including the US, New Zealand, Brazil and Fiji, and Hong Kong.
The officials said that he had violated the visa regulations and, at best, they could deport him back to his country.
Police's crackdown on unregistered hotes
Meanwhile, in view of strengthening security measures in the city, Srinagar Police has taken stringent legal action against several hotels and a homestay for violating mandatory Form-C reporting norms required under the Immigration & Foreigners Act.
"Srinagar Police reiterates that all hotels, guest houses, houseboats and homestay operators must strictly comply with Form-C submission norms when accommodating foreign nationals. "Non-compliance of the same is a serious offence and will invite strict legal action," the police said.
"Srinagar Police remains committed to safeguarding the security and integrity of the nation and protecting its citizens from activities prejudicial to peace and public order," it added.
