IGNOU ODL admission 2026 January session registration begins; apply by January 31

Candidates can apply for IGNOU January 2026 ODL programme through the official website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Students can apply for Government of India scholarships once the admission is confirmed.

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the registration process for the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes January 2026 session. Candidates can register for IGNOU January 2026 ODL programme through the official website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The last date to apply is January 31, 2026.

The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, scanned photograph and signature, copies of educational qualification, experience certificate and category certificates (if any) is required mandatorily while applying.

The official notice reads, 'Candidates applying for IGNOU January 2026 admission will have to create a DEB ID, as it is mandatory for submitting the application.'

Once the admission is confirmed, eligible students can apply for Government of India scholarships via the National Scholarship Portal.

IGNOU Admission 2026: Steps to apply online

To apply for IGNOU admission 2026 January cycle, candidates need to follow the below mentioned-

  • Step 1: First of all, go to the official website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
  • Step 2: Next, click on 'New Registration' and proceed to fill out the IGNOU 2026 application form.
  • Step 3: Upload the required documents in a given format.
  • Step 4: Make payment of the IGNOU admission non-refundable fee.
  • Step 5: Once done, submit the application form and take a printout of it for record.

If a cancellation is requested after admission is confirmed, 15% of the programme fee, or a maximum of Rs. 2,000, will be deducted from the refund amount. The fee amount will not be refunded after 60 days from the date of admission.

IGNOU offer admission to ODL programmes which include BCom, BBA, BA, BSc, MBA, MSc, MCA, MA, MCom, MPhil and PhD based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance exam.

IGNOU ODL admission eligibility requirements

For undergraduate programme admission, candidates need to qualify Class 12 exam from a recognised board. For postgraduate admission, a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university is required. For some diploma and certificate courses, work experience or specific qualifications may also be required.
