Samrat Chaudhary is one of the two Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar. A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in the state, he is contesting from the Tarapur constituency. It was in 2000 that he first contested from the Parbatta constituency and won his first Assembly election.
Ten years later, he again contested and won from the same constituency. Same year, he was appointed as Chief Whip of the Legislative Assembly, when BJP was in the Opposition. In 2014, he was selected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council by the then of Bihar, DY Patil.
Later, he was appointed as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing Department. Before the BJP, Chaudhary was with the RJD. He had also joined the JDU with a few other politicians of the RJD. Chaudhary was later appointed as the vice president of Bihar’s BJP unit in 2018.
In 2020, Samrat was again elected to the Legislative Council of Bihar. A year later, he was sworn in as the Minister of Panchayati Raj. The following year, he was appointed as the Opposition leader in the Bihar Legislative Council. In 2023, he was made the president of BJP in Bihar. Since last year, he is the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar alongside Vijay Kumar Sinha.
Born on 16 November 1968, in the Lakhanpur village of the Munger district of the state. His mother Parvati Devi, and father, Shakuni Chaudhary, were politicians. His father was an MP seven times.
