Hajipur is one of the 243 state assembly constituencies in Bihar, located in the Vaishali district. It also forms part of one of Bihar’s 40 Lok Sabha constituencies reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC). The current MLA is Awadhesh Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who won the 2020 election with 85,552 votes, defeating Deo Kumar Chaurasia of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 2,990 votes.
According to 2024 election data, Hajipur has a total of 352,082 registered voters, including 184,575 male electors, 167,487 female electors, and 20 electors from the third gender. Comparatively, in the 2020 elections, the constituency had 335,706 registered voters, comprising 179,519 male, 156,168 female, and 19 third-gender electors. In 2015, the total registered electorate stood at 311,651, with 168,323 male, 143,315 female, and 13 third-gender electors.
Voter turnout in Hajipur has remained steady over recent elections. In 2020, 192,500 of the 335,706 registered voters cast their ballots, marking a turnout of 57.34 per cent. In 2015, turnout was 57.29 per cent, with 178,547 votes cast from a total of 311,651 registered electors. Polling in Hajipur for the upcoming elections is scheduled for the first phase on November 6 2025.
Geographically, Hajipur covers an area of approximately 185.32 square kilometres, located at 25°42'21.2"N 85°14'35.5"E. The constituency shares its borders with five other assembly constituencies: Lalganj, Sonepur, Raghopur, Raja Pakar, and Parsa.
