Hathua Assembly Constituency

The Bihar Assembly elections were held on November 6 and November 11, 2025, to elect the 243 members of the state Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on November 14.

Hathua: The significance of this constituency in Bihar

Hathua assembly constituency is located in Bihar's Gopalganj district. Its current MLA is Rajesh Kumar Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) who secured 86,731 votes in the 2020 elections, beating Rameswak Singh of Janata Dal (United) by 30,527 votes.

Total voters in Hathua

In the 2015 elections, Hathua had 273,416 registered voters, including 140,483 male voters, 132,926 female voters and 7 voters from the third gender. The voter turnout was at 58.02 per cent as 158,640 electors cast their votes. In 2020, it had 304,045 registered voters including 155,427 male voters, 148,612 female voters, 6 voters from the third gender. The voter turnout was at 57.59 per cent as 175,094 people cast their votes. 

As per the ECI, Hathua constituency had 320,877 registered voters in 2024, including 162,882 male voters, 157,988 female voters, and 7 electors of the third gender. This year, the polling for this constituency took place place in the first phase of elections on November 6.

Hathua town used to be the centre of the Hathwa Raj, a chieftaincy that ruled 1,365 villages in Chhapra, Siwan and Gopalganj district of Bihar from 6th century BCE to 1952. This constituency covers approximately 266 square kilometers and shares borders with Kuchaikote, Gopalganj, Siwan, Ziradei and Bhorey.
