Hayaghat assembly constituency

Hayaghat is one of the 243 state assembly constituencies of Bihar. This constituency is located in the Darbhanga district of the state. The current MLA from this constituency is Ram Chandra Prasad of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who secured 67,030 votes in the 2020 elections. He defeated Bhola Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 10,252 votes. 

According to the 2024 election data, the total number of registered electors from this constituency is 2,55,322. The number of males registered as electors in this constituency are 1,34,323, while there are 1,20,995 female voters registered here and only 4 electors of the third gender are registered. 

The 2020 elections data shows that total number of registered electors was 2,42,053, where 1,27,860 electors were male, 1,14,189 electors were female and only 4 electors were of the third gender. The 2015 election data put the total number of registered voters at 2,19,808 electors, where 1,16,341 were male, 1,03,460 were female electors and 7 electors were from third gender. 

In the 2020 elections, 1,43,122 electors out of the 2,42,053 total registered electors cast their votes taking the voter turnout to at 59.13%, while in the 2015 election, 1,23,530 out of the 2,19,808 registered electors cast their votes keeping voter turnout at 56.20%. 

Polling for this constituency in the upcoming elections was held in the first phase on November 6, 2025.

Hayaghat constituency covers an approximate land area of 224.85 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Hayaghat are 26° 00 '38.2"N 85° 56' 39.8"E. Four other state assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Hayaghat constituency, which are Benipur, Bahadurpur, Kalyanpur and Warisnagar.
