Mahua Assembly Constituency Assembly Election Result 2025 Live

Mahua Assembly Constituency

Located in the Vaishali district of Bihar, Mahua is one of the state's 243 Assembly constituencies and forms part of the Hajipur (SC) Lok Sabha seat. A fully rural constituency covering around 199 sq km, it comprises the Mahua and Chehra Kala blocks and borders Vaishali, Kurhani, Mahnar, Raja Pakar and Patepur.

In the 2020 Assembly elections, RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan won the seat with 62,747 votes, defeating JD(U)’s Ashma Parveen by 13,770 votes. Mahua had 286,501 registered electors in 2020, with a turnout of 60.06%. The 2024 rolls show 297,532 voters (156,275 male and 141,257 female), and polling for the 2025 elections is scheduled in the first phase on 6 November.

Agriculture remains the economic backbone here, with rice, wheat, maize and pulses widely grown. The region has no major river of its own and relies on canals and groundwater for irrigation. The Mahua flower, once central to local liquor production before Bihar’s prohibition law, now supports small industries extracting oil used in cosmetics and medicine.

Politically, Mahua has been shaped by RJD’s Yadav base. JD(U) won here in 2010, but the seat swung to RJD in 2015 when Tej Pratap Yadav was launched into politics from Mahua, winning by a large margin. However, Tej Pratap shifted to Hasanpur in 2020, leaving Mahua to be retained by RJD, aided by LJP’s vote-splitting.

The dynamics have shifted dramatically ahead of 2025. Tej Pratap has broken from RJD and floated the Janshakti Janata Dal, announcing he will contest Mahua again — directly challenging his brother Tejashwi Yadav’s political authority. Meanwhile, LJP(RV) is now back in the NDA, and Chirag Paswan led in Mahua by 27,604 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha segment tally. With this, the 2025 race has become more volatile with the constituency poised for a high-stakes contest where personal influence, caste alignments and turnout will be decisive. Mahua now stands at the centre of a high-stakes triangular contest where alliance arithmetic collides with a very public sibling rivalry.
