Motihari constituency in Bihar

The Bihar Assembly elections were held on November 6 and November 11, 2025, to elect the 243 members of the state Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on November 14.

Motihari: A key constituency in Bihar

The Motihari constituency is one of the key constituencies in the Bihar assembly. It is located in the east Champaran district and its current MLA is BJP's Pramod Kumar. In the 2020 Assembly elections, he secured 92,733 votes, beating Om Prakash Chaudhary of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 14,645 votes.

The electoral count of this constituency

According to Election Commission data from 2024, the total registered voters in this constituency is 331,575. The number of male electors are 176,024, while total female electors are 155,575 and nine electors are of the third gender. 

The data of the 2020 election shows Motihari had 314,345 registered voters. Out of them, 166,927 were males while 147,413 voters were female and five belonged to the third gender. In 2015, the total registered voters at the constituency was at 292,561 including 158,181, male voters and 134,378 female voters. 

In the 2020 elections, 187,585 out of the 314,345 total registered electors casted their votes, and the voter turnout was at 59.67 per cent. In 2015, 168,876 out of the 292,561 voters took part in polling with a voter turnout of 57.72 per cent. This year, polling in this constituency took place on November 11. 

This constituency covers an approximate land area of 298.09 square kilometers. A total of six Assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Motihari constituency, which are: Chiraia, Narkatia, Harsidhi, Kalyanpur, Pipra and Madhuban.
