Muzaffarpur Assembly Constituency

The Bihar Assembly elections were held on November 6 and November 11, 2025, to elect the 243 members of the state Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on November 14.

Muzaffarpur: An important constituency in Bihar

This constituency in the Muzaffarpur district is one of the most important ones in Bihar assembly. The current MLA for this constituency is Congress leader Bijendra Chaudhary. In the 2020 Assembly elections, he secured 81,871 votes, beating BJP's Suresh Kumar by 6,326 votes.

The Election Commission data from 2024 shows the total number of registered voters in the constituency is 330,837, including 173,303 male voters and 157,510 female voters. Apart from that, 24 voters belong to the third gender. 

In 2020, its total registered voters was 322,538 including 170,030 male voters, and 152,495 female voters, with 13 belonging to the third gender. In 2015, the constituency had 297,952 registered voters, including 161,031 male voters and 136,912 female voters. 

Voter turn-out in Muzaffarpur

In the 2020 elections, 170,100 out of the 322,538 total registered electors casted their votes, and the voter turnout was at 52.74 per cent. It dipped from the 2015 elections when 173,532 out of the 297,952 voters took part in polling, marking the voter turnout at 58.24 per cent. In 2025, the polling for this constituency took place on November 6. The constituency covers an approximate land area of 36.48 square kilometers and it shares borders with three other constituencies: Bochaha, Kanti and Kurhani.
