Saharsa is one of the 243 state assembly constituencies of Bihar. It is located in the Saharsa district of the state. The current MLA from this constituency is Alok Ranjan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who secured 103,538 votes in the 2020 elections, beating his nearest rival Lovely Anand of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 19,679 votes.

According to the 2024 election data, the total number of registered electors from this constituency is 375,772. Male registered electors in this constituency are 195,635, and female 180,129. A total of 8 electors of the third gender are also registered.

In the 2020 elections, the total number of registered electors were 370,962. Out of these, 193,665 electors were male, 177,295 female and only 2 of the third gender.

In these polls, 227,720 electors out of the total cast their votes, marking the voter turnout at 61.39%.
