Sarairanjan Assembly Constituency

The Bihar Assembly elections were held on November 6 and November 11, 2025, to elect the 243 members of the state Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on November 14.

Sarairanjan: An important assembly constituency in Bihar

The Sarairanjan Assembly constituency is located in Bihar's Samastipur district. Its current MLA is Vijay Kumar Choudhary of Janata Dal (United) who got 72,666 in the 2020 Assembly elections, beating Arbind Kumar Sahni of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by 3,624 votes.

Total voters in Sarairanjan constituency

In the 2020 elections, the Sarairanjan constituency had 281,041 registered voters including 149,611 male voters, 131,073 female voters and 7 electors from the third gender. Out of them, 171,182 electors cast their votes and the voter turnout was at 60.91 per cent. 

The Election Commission data from 2024 shows that there are 282,825 total registered electors in Sarairanjan constituency including 149,483 male voters, 133,339 female voters and three voters of the third gender. This year, polling for this constituency took place in the first phase of elections on November 6.

Like other constituencies in the district, the main economic activity in Sarairanjan is agriculture. This is because Samastipur is located on a very fertile land due to it being part of the Ganges flood plains which supports a variety of crops, mainly cash crops like rice, wheat and maize.

This constituency covers approximately 233 square kilometers of land and shares its borders with Samastipur, Ujiarpur, Mohiuddinnagar, Morwa and Bachhwara.
