Tejja Sajja shares his journey from Mirai to HanuMan
In a candid chat with Bharati K Dubey, Sajja opens up about the pressure of expectations, his creative choices, and the importance of staying authentic. "It’s been a total whirlwind, and I’m just incredibly grateful for the way things have lined up from HanuMan to Mirai,” Teja confessed, speaking about his back-to-back film successes.
"Successfully following up one big project with another is a mix of pure excitement and a real sense of responsibility. While HanuMan showed me how much people connect with rooted stories, Mirai has been about pushing myself further with action and scale. At the end of the day, the audience’s love is what keeps me going—it makes this whole journey feel less like work and more like a constant evolution of what we can achieve on screen,” he added.
Both HanuMan and Mirai were made on modest budgets but created a big impact. Asked about this, Teja explained, "Honestly, it comes down to passion and smart storytelling. When you don’t have a massive budget to lean on, you have to work twice as hard to make sure the soul of the film shines through.
We focused everything on a strong, high-concept idea and a vision that felt fresh.”After HanuMan’s phenomenal success, working on Mirai came with heightened expectations. "There’s definitely a bit of ‘happy pressure,’” he admitted. "After seeing how much love HanuMan received, you naturally want to live up to those expectations and not let the fans down.
”Sajja also spoke about his love for culturally rooted stories: "I think people today crave authenticity over perfection. I’m naturally drawn to these stories because they have a unique soul and identity rooted in our own myths and traditions.''
Talking about Mirai’s Hindi premiere, he said, "It’s really about reaching that massive audience in the heartland. While theatres are great, a Hindi premiere on Star Gold brings the film directly into millions of homes.”As for what’s next, he revealed, "Right now, I am working on the sequels to my current films. Looking ahead, I’m definitely hoping to explore new genres and different types of roles to keep things fresh.”
