Delhi-NCR Engulfed by Hazardous Air Pollution and Dense Fog

| Updated on: Dec 19, 2025 | 08:24 AM

Delhi-NCR woke up to a combination of dense fog and severe air pollution this morning, significantly reducing visibility across roads and highways and disrupting commuter movement.

The region is experiencing dangerously low visibility, making travel challenging for residents. Air quality has emerged as a critical concern, with the Central Pollution Control Board reporting Delhi's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at a hazardous 393 at 6 a.m. This places the air quality in the very poor to severe categories.

Several monitoring stations recorded alarming levels, including Anand Vihar at 410, Noida Sector 125 at 461, and Wazirpur at 403, all falling under the severe classification. Health experts have issued warnings, stating that such high pollution levels can impact even healthy individuals and pose serious risks to those with pre-existing respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, wear masks, and take extra precautions, especially for young children and the elderly, as pollution levels remain critically high.
