Hyderabad Man Fined ₹10,000 for Washing G-Wagon with Drinking Water
A man in Hyderabad’s upscale Banjara Hills has been fined ₹10,000 for washing his Mercedes G-Wagon with drinking water. The incident occurred on Road No. 12 when Ashok Reddy, Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, noticed the misuse during a routine visit.
Reddy intervened immediately, issuing a notice on the spot for using potable water to wash the luxury SUV. Officials confirmed that the fine was imposed under stringent rules prohibiting the wastage of drinking water.
The water board highlighted that this action comes at a critical time when Hyderabad is actively encouraging residents to use water responsibly and conserve precious resources amidst growing demand.
Authorities have explicitly warned that the misuse of drinking water for purposes such as washing cars, watering gardens, or commercial use will not be tolerated and will lead to strict penalties. The public has been reminded to conserve potable water, with serious consequences for any violations.
