Elon Musk Praises Indian Talent, Calls for Balanced US Immigration Policies
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has acknowledged the substantial contributions of Indian talent to the United States, affirming that skilled Indian professionals have significantly benefited the nations technology and innovation sectors.
During an interview with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Musk discussed both immigration policies and entrepreneurship, highlighting the value of diversity and the impact of individuals of Indian origin on the US economy.
Musk emphasised the need for balanced immigration policies, simultaneously criticising the Biden administrations approach to border controls. He asserted that open borders are detrimental, potentially allowing criminals to enter the United States.
Addressing concerns about immigrants taking jobs, Musk expressed uncertainty regarding this perception, suggesting that a scarcity of talented individuals means skilled immigrants primarily fill existing gaps rather than displace native-born workers.
He also shared a personal connection, revealing his partner, Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, is half-Indian, and that one of their sons is named Sekhar, honouring Indian-American physicist Subrahmanyam Chandrasekhar.
