The death toll from severe floods and landslides across three provinces on Indonesias Sumatra Island has tragically risen to 442, as confirmed by the National Disaster Management Agency. Hundreds more remain missing, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Thousands of people are currently stranded without critical supplies, struggling to find food and water amidst damaged roads, downed communication lines, and crumbling infrastructure. At least two areas on Sumatra Island remained unreachable on Sunday.

In response, officials deployed two warships from Jakarta to deliver essential aid to the affected populations. North Sumatra has reported the highest casualties with 217 deaths and 209 missing.

Aceh province recorded 96 deaths and 75 missing, while West Sumatra reported 129 deaths and 118 missing. Indonesian President Subianto has instructed that all national resources be mobilised and focused on a rapid emergency response to address the devastating situation.
