Catalonia wildfire kills 2 amid Europe heatwave crisis

At least two people have died in a wildfire in Spain 's Catalonia region, which was largely contained though more wind and thunder storms were expected on Wednesday. The blaze in Torrefeta broke out in a farming area on Tuesday afternoon, destroying several farms, and affecting an area stretching for around 40 kilometres (25 miles), firefighters said, adding there were no other casualties.

Centre approves Pune Metro Rail Project Phase-2: Check full route, stations

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Phase-2 of the Pune Metro Rail Project. This phase involves Corridor 2A (From Vanaz to Chandani Chowk) and Corridor 2B (From Ramwadi to Wagholi/Vitthalwadi), as extensions of the existing Vanaz–Ramwadi corridor under Phase-1, scheduled to be completed within next four years. Both these elevated corridors will be 12.75 km in length and include 13 stations, connecting fast-developing suburbs such as Chandani Chowk, Bavdhan, Kothrud, Kharadi, and Wagholi. Cost of Phase-2 of Pune Metro Rail Project As per the government, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 3,626.24 crore, that will be equally shared by the Centre, Maharashtra government, and external bilateral/multilateral agencies. This strategic proposal is a logical extension of the existing Corridor-2 and aligns with the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), which envisions a continuous Chandani Chowk to Wagholi Metro corridor to strengthen East–West mass transit in Pune....
