New Delhi: A delivery executive working for quick-commerce platform Zepto was allegedly assaulted by two motorcycle-borne men following a collision in Bengaluru’s Mahadevpura area. In a video circulated on social media, the delivery boy—seen wearing a helmet—is being violently beaten by the two men.
The victim was carrying out his routine delivery when he was suddenly attacked by the unidentified assailants. Shocked by the incident, he was unable to defend himself as the assault continued.
An elderly passerby eventually intervened and stopped the fight. Had he not stepped in, the altercation could have taken a more serious turn. Following the incident and the circulation of the video on X, Mahadevpura police from the Whitefield division took suo motu cognisance of the case.
Meanwhile, a day earlier, a 25-year-old delivery partner working for Zepto lost his life in a road accident in Hyderabad. The incident, which took place late Monday night near Mehdipatnam, has sparked fresh outrage among gig worker unions, who have raised concerns over the high-pressure environment created by “ultra-fast” delivery promises.
The victim, identified as K Abhishek, a resident of Shaikpet and a final-year BBA student, was working as a delivery executive to support his family.
According to the Mehdipatnam police, Abhishek was heading towards Tolichowki on his two-wheeler to deliver an order when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle on a busy road. His bike skidded, and a private travel bus following closely behind ran over him, killing him on the spot.
