New Delhi: The much-awaited Bigg Boss 19 is gearing up for its grand premiere on 24 August, and excitement around the new lineup has been steadily building. Among the most talked-about names this year is singer-composer Amaal Mallik, whose possible entry has already created a stir.
A recently released promo on JioHotstar’s Instagram handle also hinted strongly at his participation, adding fuel to the buzz. Scroll down to read about the singer in detail!
Amaal Mallik is a celebrated composer, music director, singer and lyricist. Born into a family steeped in music, he is the son of composer Daboo Mallik, grandson of veteran Sardar Mallik, and brother of playback singer Armaan Mallik. His career took off in 2014 when he composed three tracks for Salman Khan’s Jai Ho.
Over the years, his work has shaped the soundscape of some of Bollywood’s biggest films. From Khoobsurat, Roy and Airlift to Kapoor & Sons, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Kabir Singh, Amaal’s chartbusters have been embraced by audiences across generations. Most recently, he worked on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s iconic track Mere Dholna 3.0.
Though he has usually kept his personal life private, Amaal made headlines earlier this year. In March 2025, he shared that he had cut ties with his family, except for his brother Armaan. The post also mentioned that he had been struggling with clinical depression and had felt “robbed of peace, drained emotionally and financially.” He later deleted the note, urging the media not to sensationalise the matter.
This season carries the theme “Gharwaalon Ki Sarkaar”, with democracy forming the core of the format. An assembly room has been introduced to complement the concept, although the exact gameplay remains under wraps. The show is also set to run longer than usual, expanding to five months instead of three.
The expected lineup includes Gaurav Khanna, Ashnoor Kaur, Awez Darbar, Nagma Mirajkar, Zeeshan Qadri, Baseer Ali, Abhishek Bajaj, Tanya Mittal, Atul Kishan, Kunickaa Sadanand, Natalia Janoszek, Pranit More, Neelam Giri, Nehal Chudasama, Mridul Tiwari, and Shehbaz Badesha.
Bigg Boss 19 will premiere on August 24, 2025, at 9 PM exclusively on JioHotstar. A delayed television broadcast will air on Colors TV at 10:30 PM the same night.
