New Delhi: Border 2 is storming the box office. Sunny Deol's explosive sequel to the 1997 war classic raked in a massive Rs 36 Cr on Day 1, and Day 2 has pushed the total to Rs 78.6 Cr in just two days.
With 12,375 shows and over 28 lakh footfalls, this patriotic blockbuster is dominating screens amid positive word of mouth. Single-screen theatres are housefull, proving Deol's mass appeal is alive. Expect fireworks over the Republic Day weekend.
Border 2 earned Rs 36.0 Cr gross (Rs 30.0 Cr net) on its first day (Friday) across 6,078 shows, with a 37.0 per cent average occupancy in the Hindi version. On Day 2 (Saturday), it collected Rs 42.6 Cr, boosting the two-day total to Rs 78.6 Cr gross. Sacnilk reports 2,824,530 footfalls so far, highlighting strong audience turnout.
Hindi occupancy reached 41.58 per cent overall on Day 2, according to Sacnilk data cited across reports. Breakdown shows morning shows at 15.51 per cent, afternoon at 39.97 per cent, evening at 49.13 per cent, and night shows peaking at 61.70 per cent. This jump signals growing buzz, especially in mass belts like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, UP, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Sacnilk notes, "Border is the iconic franchise with strong recall value, especially in the mass centres where Sunny Deol's mass appeal remains unmatched. Notably, many single-screen theatres are recording very good footfalls with houseful shows." A trade analyst told PTI, "It is showing a big jump today... We're seeing an outstanding response... Over the extended weekend, we expect the film to continue this momentum and gross over Rs 150 crore till Monday."

With positive WOM and no major competition, Border 2 eyes Rs 100 Cr+ weekend. It has become Sunny Deol's 4th-highest earner already.
