Now, figures revealing the cast and crew’s jaw-dropping paycheques have only added to the frenzy. Scroll down to read about them in detail!
According to a report in Deccan Herald, it’s the Superstar himself who has bagged the most staggering sum. Rajinikanth is said to have secured a monumental Rs 200 crore for Coolie, an upgrade from his initial Rs 150 crore fee. It’s a payday worthy of his legendary status and makes him one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, Nagarjuna Akkineni, who portrays Simon in the film, reportedly drew Rs 10 crore for his role. Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan is said to have earned Rs 4 crore.
Veteran actor Sathyaraj, immortalised in pop culture for his role as Katappa in Baahubali, has reportedly received Rs 5 crore. Kannada superstar Upendra, too, has matched that figure for his appearance, adding his own star power to the action-packed narrative.
At the helm, Lokesh Kanagaraj has reportedly been paid Rs 50 crore. The amount reflects not just his directorial skill but also his current golden streak in Tamil cinema. Anirudh Ravichander, the man behind Coolie’s thumping soundtrack, is said to have taken home around Rs 15 crore for delivering the music expected to dominate playlists in the months ahead.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie marks Rajinikanth's 171st as a lead actor and is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14. It will clash with YRF’s War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in the lead.
The film’s pre-release momentum has been nothing short of phenomenal, with advance sales reaching historic highs. Industry insiders are already predicting a box office storm, with some suggesting Coolie could redefine commercial benchmarks in Indian cinema.
