New Delhi: It’s Coolie day and the Rajinikanth mania has gripped the nation. Thalaivar’s movie releases across the nation and the superstar, too, completes 50 years in the film industry on August 15, 2025. So, the day marks the double celebrations for his fans. The film was welcomed by fans with great enthusiasm and several videos from the celebrations in Tamil Nadu and Mumbai have surfaced on the web.
Meanwhile, Coolie received mixed reviews from the cinegoers with many criticising the movie for its screenplay. However, Rajinikanth’s performance was highly praised.
To celebrate Coolie release and Rajinikanth’s 50 years, fans thronged theatres and were seen dancing to dhol beats. Some die-hard fans also showered Rajinikanth’s posters with milk. In some theatres, fans even stopped the screening of Coolie at the legendary actor’s entry on-screen. In some videos, fans are also seen dancing on the elevator while heading to the screening.
In other videos, fans are seen cheering, standing up from their seats and dancing in excitement as Rajinikanth makes his grand entry in the film. Some fans even offered prayers and threw confetti on Rajinikanth’s big cut-outs.
In Mumbai, fans were seen dancing outside the theatres wearing custom t-shirts featuring stills of Rajinikanth while in Hyderabad, people celebrated the film’s release with large posters.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin ShahirReba Monica John, Junior MGR and Monisha Blessy. Actor Aamir Khan is seen in a cameo role.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already earned over Rs 100 crore for its opening weekend and sold over 12 lakh tickets on its opening day. The movie revolves around a mystery man who takes a stand against a corrupt syndicate, who exploits and abuse workers of a port town.
