Last year, director Farah Khan shared a fun anecdote about Rakhi Sawant's audition for the movie, and it will leave you in splits. In a conversation with casting director Mukesh Chhabra for Mashable India, Farah recalled the chaotic and hilarious sequence of events that led to Rakhi's selection for the role in the film.

What did Farah Khan say?

Speaking with Mukesh Chhabra, Farah Khan revealed that they had initially locked a different actress for Rakhi Sawant's role, but she was replaced due to her demands even before shooting began. Farah shared that the actress's mother insisted she stay in the same hotel as Shah Rukh Khan. And so, they had to replace her, and Rakhi dramatically entered the auditions.

Farah's assistant suggested Rakhi for the role. Recalling the audition, Farah shared that Rakhi arrived in a burqa, which took them by surprise as they demanded a 'hot girl' appearance. Then, things took a dramatic turn when she asked her assistant to roll the camera. Farah further added that Rakhi then took off her burqa, revealing her bikini. Farah remarked, "Poora camera shake ho gaya tha (The entire camera shook)."

Farah wasn't sure about casting Rakhi due to her orange hair at the time. However, when Rakhi arrived in Darjeeling for the shoot, she wanted to reveal more, but Farah convinced her that she would look great even covered up.

The director also recalled that working with Rakhi Sawant was a delight, and her only request was to be positioned near Shah Rukh Khan in a song sequence.

Why did Rakhi Sawant wear a burqa over a bikini?

In 2021, she opened up about why she wore a burqa over a bikini for the audition of Main Hoon Na on Zee Comedy Show. Reportedly, she said that the demand was to look glamorous for the role, and since she lives in the chawl, she couldn't step out in bold clothes. So, her mother then suggested that she wrap a set of curtains over her glamorous outfit.
