Mumbai: Trade analysts Komal Nahta and Taran Adarsh, in an exclusive interview with TV9, spoke of the upcoming release Ikkis. They also talked about the competition Avatar: Fire and Ash could bring in.

"The whole world is loving the Ikkis trailer. Agastya Nanda looks very promising. He's cute and seems to be into the character. I liked him even in The Archies," said Komal Nahta. Talking about Agastya Nanda, Nahta opined that the pressure of being Amitabh Bachchan's grandson will not weigh on him. "Not at all. He's his grandson. Ikkis is not expected to take a great opening as it has a newcomer. It'll take a decent opening. It's looking good, so even if it takes a decent opening, it's good enough," said Komal.

Taran shared similar thoughts. He stated, "Having debuted on the OTT with The Archies is not an issue. Many actors have come from the small screen to the big screen. Ikkis is looking very promising and it's an interesting story. I loved the trailer. It's a brilliant trailer. One has to see how Agastya has performed in the film, but with a director like Sriram Raghavan, I'm sure that he must have done a good job. It's an emotional and moving story to watch on the big screen."

He added, "Everything boils down to numbers, but it's not the usual masala movie. Sriram Raghavan is not one of those masala directors. This is a word-of-mouth film. I'm sure if it gets good word of mouth, it will definitely catch on."

Taran shared high expectations from the Ikkis director.

"Agastya is looking very good, and I have immense faith in the director. He must have abstracted a very fine performance from the actor. The pressure of being Amitabh Bachchan's grandson is not easy to escape from. But I don't think there will be comparisons because it's a very different film, different era and people understand," said Taran.

Trade analysts Komal Nahta & Taran Adarsh about Avatar: Fire and Ash

When asked about the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, Komal opined that the Hollywood movie would face significant competition from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar

"For the first time ever, Avatar has to fight with Indian films. Dhurandhar will affect every other film, including Avatar. It will take a great start, no doubt. But the way Dhurandhar is growing, it will impact Avatar to an extent. For the first time, a Hollywood film will fight with a Bollywood film, that too in its third week of release. That's very heartening to see," said Komal.

Taran, on the other hand, cautiously stated that it was soon to predict the numbers.

"What can one say about James Cameron and Avatar. It is the biggest franchise in the world. It's the biggest event film releasing this season. Let's see how the third part comes out. The western critics are hailing it as spectacular. A bit too early to talk about the numbers," said the trade analyst.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is all set to release on December 19, 2025
