Mahabharat's Arjun Firoz Khan shared unknown side of Pankaj Dheer; says 'I miss you PD'

New Delhi: Firoz Khan, who played Arjun in the iconic television series Mahabharat, recently opened up about his cherished friendship with the late Pankaj Dheer, who portrayed Karna.

"Pankaj Dheer was a gentleman personified—a good Samaritan, a good colleague, a good friend, and a brother-like soul," Khan shared. The two actors had known each other since their school days in Bandra, with Dheer attending High School while Khan studied at St. Andrews High School. However, their friendship truly blossomed during the filming of Mahabharat.

"We were opponents in Mahabharat, but we were contemporaries in real life," Khan explained. "We knew each other from before the Mahabharat serial, but we were never sync song friends. We used to see each other, but we never jammed together until we started working together in Mahabharat."

According to Khan, Dheer's authenticity set him apart. "He was a very genuine person. He didn't have anything political in him. He would call a spade a spade," he noted. Dheer was known for his infectious laughter and family-oriented nature, always ensuring those around him were happy and smiling.

Their first scene together was the characters' introduction, where they came face to face. "We shared a beautiful camaraderie. It was never an environment of enmity or any shade of repulsiveness among us," Khan recalled. This positive atmosphere extended to the entire cast, including Gajendra Chauhan, Gufi Paintal, and Puneet Issar.

Khan's last conversation with Dheer remains etched in his memory. "I used to call him PD, and he used to call me FK. I called him to say that I wanted to meet him. He told me that he was experiencing some respiratory problems and that he would meet me after he feels better," Khan shared emotionally. "I told him, 'Yaar, mereko teri yaad aa rahi hai.' I was getting worried. We were doing a film together called Welcome To The Jungle. He's no more."
