Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix are in early talks to bring back the supernatural K-pop girl group Huntr/X for another thrilling adventure. Sony Pictures Animation’s KPop Demon Hunters became an instant global sensation after its release in June 2025. This unique animated musical blends K-pop culture with a fantasy story about girl group Huntr/x, who balance their music careers with demon hunting. The film not only topped Netflix’s all-time movie charts by surpassing Red Notice with over 236 million views but also made Billboard history by having four songs in the Hot 100 top 10 simultaneously.
Netflix even broke tradition by releasing a sing-along theatrical version across more than 1,700 theaters in North America, where the movie earned USD 1.64 billion opening weekend, taking the top spot at the box office ahead of summer blockbusters.
