New Delhi: Kussh Sinha's directorial venture, Nikita Roy, has been released in theatres this Friday (July 18). The movie is based on supernatural activities and is a horror fantasy. If you are someone who loves to watch haunted movies, this is something you can try. However, the film has not performed well at the box office. The film has earned even less than Tanvi The Great and other releases this Friday.

It marks the directorial debut of Sonakshi Sinha's brother, Kussh Sinha. The film's promotional activities were underwhelming, which can easily be pointed out by the performance at the box office.

Nikita Roy box office collection Day 1

Nikita Roy's first day collection at the box office is only Rs 23 lakh in India. Whereas the worldwide collection is about Rs 26 lakh. The film is receiving a lukewarm response from the audience. The reviews published on social media about the movie show some criticising it while some praising it.  The film was earlier supposed to release on June 27, but was later postponed to July 18.

Reasons for the film's low grossings can be major releases on the same day, such as Saiyaara, which has been reported to earn Rs 20 crore on its Day 1. Secondly, another star-studded film, Tanvi The Great's release is also another major film that took the audience's engagement and attention. Thirdly,. the film is not getting recognised by the audience because Kussh Sinha's direction didn't get promoted much by the star cast. It also didn't have any press briefings, which led to gain lesser response from the audience.

About the movie

Nikita Roy stars Suhail Nayyar, Sonakshi Sinha, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal, and others in lead roles. This film is a theatrical comeback of Sonakshi Sinha after her last film Dabangg 3, which released in 2019. Its storyline is about paranoia and shows the actress in the role of an investigator who challenges supernatural activities and other misleading beliefs.
