The stamp celebrates the great bravery shown by these soldiers during the Battle of Rezang La in 1962. This act of courage and sacrifice took place in freezing temperatures when the troops fought against overwhelming Chinese forces. The stamp launch was held ahead of the 63rd anniversary of this famous battle, which is remembered as a key moment in India's military history.

The unveiling event was attended by Farhan Akhtar, who is producing and starring in the upcoming war drama 120 Bahadur, which tells the story of the battle. Director Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai and producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Amit Chandrra, and Arhan Bagati were also present. Jitendra Gupta, the director general of postal services, joined the ceremony as well.

The stamp pays tribute to Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, the leader of the 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought bravely and received the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honour, after his death. The soldiers under his command showed incredible courage despite being outnumbered by the enemy.
