Mumbai: Riteish Deshmukh offered to the family of the late dancer Saurabh Sharma, who died during the shooting of the film Raja Shiva. The actor transferred Rs 15 lakh to the dancer's mother on Diwali.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees general secretary Ashok Dubey thanked the actor for his gesture towards Saurabh's family. He stated, "Saurabh Sharma's insurance claim of Rs 15 lac was immediately transferred to the dancer's mother's account on the same day the insurance company sent them the claim. We are really touched by the gesture.''
He added, "Ritiesh 's compassionate support to the family at the time of grief reflects his deep sense of humanity."
Saurabh passed away in a tragic accident in April 2025. The 26-year-old drowned to death during the shoot of the movie Raja Shiva. As per reports, the young man was swept away by the strong currents in the Krishna River, located in Maharashtra's Satara. Saurabh worked in the film's choreography team.
The incident had happened after the shooting. When the crew noticed his missing, the film's production team did a detailed search using drones and swimmers. However, it took two days for Saurobh's body to be found.
Following the body's recovery, the production house released a detailed statement, talking about the events and the search efforts.
“On the day Saurabh drowned in the river, it became dark and his body could not be found. Therefore, the search operation was stopped. The search operation resumed on Wednesday, but without success. On Thursday morning at 7:30 am, the police found Saurabh's body. A case of accidental death has been filed," said the police at the time. ;
