New Delhi: High drama unfolded at Cinepolis in Mumbai when actress Ruchi Gujjar stormed a special screening of So Long Valley and struck producer-actor Man Singh with her sandal in front of stunned onlookers. The incident was caught on camera and now circulating widely online. It erupted during a heated protest tied to an ongoing Rs 25 lakh financial dispute involving producer Karan Singh Chauhan.

According to the viral footage, Ruchi was seen shouting angrily before removing her footwear and hitting one of the producers in front of a packed crowd. She appeared visibly furious and was accompanied by a group of protestors, many of whom were seen holding placards and chanting slogans against the film's producers.

Several posters on display featured the faces of the producers crossed out in red, while others mockingly depicted them seated on donkeys. The scene caused chaos inside the theatre, prompting security intervention and public attention.

The outburst was reportedly fuelled by a financial disagreement that began last year. Ruchi claimed that Karan had approached her in 2023, presenting himself as the producer of an upcoming Hindi TV serial intended for Sony TV. “He offered to add me as a co-producer and also sent documents related to the project,” she told the media.

Trusting the proposal, the actress stated that multiple payments were made from her company, SR Event and Entertainment, to bank accounts associated with Karan’s firm, K Studios, between July 2023 and January 2024. However, the television project was never launched.

“Despite repeated contacts, he kept postponing them and lied,” she said in her official complaint. Her frustration reportedly intensified after learning that the money was allegedly redirected to fund So Long Valley. “When I got the information that the film is releasing on July 27, I told him to return my money now, on which he started threatening me,” she added.

Following her complaint, the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against Chauhan under sections 318(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Karan, 36, has been accused of defrauding Ruchi of Rs 25 lakh.

Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan told TV9 English, "FIR have been registered by Oshiwara Police and now we are awaiting the accused's arrest. We are also lodging a fresh complaint at the Amboli police against the accused for outraging the modesty of my client."
