Sangeeta Bijlani’s Pune farmhouse vandalised and looted, police launch investigation

New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani’s farmhouse in Pune’s Maval was reportedly burgled earlier this week. The shocking incident swiftly prompted a formal police investigation. The incident came to light on July 18, when the actress visited the property after a prolonged absence, only to find it ransacked and severely damaged.

According to the police complaint filed by Sangeeta, the entrance gate and window grill of the farmhouse had been forcibly broken. Upon entering the premises, Bijlani discovered extensive damage and several items missing. “Today, I went to the farmhouse with my two househelps. As soon as I reached there, I was shocked to see that the main gate was broken. When we went inside, the window grill was broken, one TV set was missing, and another was broken,” she noted in her statement to SP Sandeep Singh Gill.

It was revealed that the property had been left unattended for months due to the declining health of Bijlani’s father. The delay in her visit may have allowed the perpetrators ample time to carry out the break-in without raising suspicion.

Beyond theft, considerable damage was also inflicted on the property. The top floor had been vandalised, with broken beds and signs of forced entry evident throughout. "A TV set was missing, CCTV cameras along with many household items, including bed and refrigerator, have been vandalised," Sangeeta added in the complaint.

Initial examination of CCTV footage from the property confirmed the presence of intruders, and it is now being reviewed by authorities to help trace the culprits. As of now, the police are continuing their investigation, with officers combing through available evidence from the crime scene and surveillance systems.

Meanwhile, Sangeeta Bijlani is widely remembered for her performances in films such as Tridev, Hathyar, Inspector Dhanush, and Shiv Ram. She had recently marked her 65th birthday with close friends and family. Notably, Salman Khan was among the guests at her celebration.
