New Delhi: Keerthy Suresh’s Telugu movie, Uppu Kappurambu, is slated for release on OTT this week. Helmed by Ani IV Sasi, the Telugu-language film stars Keerthy Suresh and Suhas in leading roles and is set in the fictional village of Chitti Jayapuram during the 1990s.
The plot unfolds around a rather peculiar issue: the village graveyard is running out of space. This bizarre dilemma becomes the central conflict of the story and leads to a series of comical episodes and heartfelt moments. The role of Apoorva, a geeky, well-meaning government officer, is essayed by actress Keerthy Suresh. While Suhas plays Chinna, the ever-dutiful graveyard caretaker. Together, the duo attempts to find a solution and navigate the maze of local superstitions and eccentric villagers.
Uppu Kappurambu was released on Prime Video on July 4, 2025. Widely known for portraying emotionally intense characters, Keerthy Suresh is seen in a new light here. A departure from her usual on-screen persona was welcomed by fans who are already appreciating her transformation. Supporting performances by veteran actors Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari have also been included to elevate the film’s comic sensibilities.
The trailer of Uppu Kappurambu was dropped earlier this week, offering glimpses of clever dialogues and a feel-good energy rooted in old-school Telugu storytelling. It has been hinted that Uppu Kappurambu doesn’t merely aim to entertain; it also holds up a mirror to the way rural communities balance tradition with modern challenges.
Described as a “satirical take on burial practices in rural Andhra,” the film is being anticipated as a sleeper hit. The cast of Uppu Kappurambu also includes Talluri Rajeswari, Shatru, Babu Mohan, Vishnu Oi, and Duvvasi Mohan in central roles. The music of the film is composed by Sweekar Agasthi, with Radhika Lavu backing the project as producer.
