Air India Pilot Incident: Lawyer Clarifies Delhi Airport Altercation Details

Air India Express pilot Virender Sejwal's lawyer claims the Delhi Airport incident was a personal dispute between passengers, not an assault by a pilot on duty. Sejwal, reportedly travelling as a passenger, resolved the matter with CISF, and no formal complaint was filed.

The case involving Air India Express pilot Virender Sejwal at Delhi Airport has taken a new turn, with his lawyer asserting that the facts are being misrepresented. According to the pilot's legal representative, the incident on 19 December at IGI Airport Terminal 1 was a personal dispute between two passengers, not an assault by an on-duty pilot.

Captain Sejwal was reportedly travelling as a passenger at the time, not on duty. The altercation was resolved promptly on the spot in the presence of CISF officials. Both parties, the lawyer states, voluntarily signed an agreement not to pursue legal action, a claim corroborated by CISF, which confirmed no formal complaint was filed.

The lawyer further alleges that Ankit Dewan, who claimed to be assaulted during security checks with his family, has selectively presented facts. Air India Express has expressed regret, removed the pilot from duty, and stated that appropriate action will follow a full investigation.
