Eleven children fall sick at Andhra school after eating chocolates
Telangana Narcotics Bureau raided a clandestine drug manufacturing unit in Nandikotkur and seized a large quantity of drugs recently.
Nandyal: Eleven female students fell sick at a government girls school in Nandikotkur village of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh, after consuming chocolates given to them by an unknown person, Tv9 telugu reported.
According to the police, the incident took place after a student from Nandikotkur was given a packet of chocolates by an unknown person while she was on her way to school. He instructed her to distribute them to the teachers and students. After reaching school, the student distributed the chocolates to the PT teacher and several other female students, which resulted in severe illness.
Symptoms show up immediately:
The symptoms of the illness included darkening of the eyelids, severe stomach pain, vomiting, and some students fell unconscious. The school staff immediately alerted the authorities and shifted the victims to a local hospital. They are currently receiving emergency treatment.
The police, who arrived at the scene, seized the remaining chocolate samples and sent them to the lab. They are examining CCTV footage to determine who gave the chocolate packet to the student and why he gave them to her. Officials have advised children not to accept food items or chocolates from strangers under any circumstances.
