Three people charred to death, many injured after bus crashes into lorry in AP’s Nandyal

Nandyal: A private travel bus making its way from Nellore to Hyderabad crashed into a container lorry in Siruvella Metta, Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday, January 22, killing three and injuring at least 10. The ARBCVR Travels bus carrying 36 passengers, suffered a tyre bust, causing the driver to lose control, veer across the divider and crash into an oncoming lorry. The collision sparked a massive ball of fire that engulfed both vehicles and completely gutted them. A DCM truck driver passing by stopped his vehicle and broke the bus windows, allowing the passengers to escape. More than ten passengers sustained minor injuries after jumping out of the windows. Hyderabad: Speeding car overturns on Begumpet flyover

Hyderabad: A speeding car overturned on Begumpet flyover in the city on Wednesday morning, visuals from the site showed. Three people were injured and were rushed to the hospital. Police suspect rash driving as the cause of the accident and launched an investigation into the matter. The accident led to slowing down of traffic as the overturned car blocked a portion of the flyover. Traffic was cleared after removing the car. Telangana High Court to police: Do not force citizens to pay pending traffic challans

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court ordered the traffic police not to stop and force citizens to pay pending traffic challans, in what could be dubbed as a major relief for commuters. The court observed that the police cannot snatch keys or take any other coercive steps over pending challans. Any citizen who wants to pay can do so voluntarily and if the police wants to take action, then due process such as court notice must be provided. Justice NV Shravan Kumar heard two writ petitions filed by Raghavendra Chary, a resident of Secunderabad, who challenged the enforcement mechanisms of Hyderabad Traffic Police. Telangana High court mandates 90-day advance notice for movie ticket price hikes

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court in an order said that movie producers must finalise and announce decisions of a hike in ticket prices at least 90 days in advance of the film’s release. The writ petition heard by a single bench Justice NV Shravan Kumar, also issued a contempt notice to the Principal Secretary of Home Department, CV Anand, for reported lack of oversight from the department before approving the ticket price hike of Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Mana Shankar Prasad Garu’. IMD issues fog alert for Andhra Pradesh, Northeast monsoon rains end in South India

Amaravati: Shallow to moderate fog is likely in the morning time in some places in North Coastal AP, South Coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next three days. Telangana govt likely to cap private school fee hike at 8 percent

Hyderabad: Telangana school education department has sent a proposal to the government which allows private schools to hike school fees by 8 percent, once in every two years, reports said. If private schools wish to increase fees by more than that, prior approval from the State Fee Regulatory Committee or the district committees will be mandatory. A senior official from the Education Department stated that the committee will make a final decision only after thoroughly examining the documents submitted by the schools. Telangana Urban Local Body Polls to be held in February, cabinet decides

Hyderabad: Telangana state cabinet has given its nod for urban local body polls to be held in February. The cabinet has also approved the release of Rs 2,787 crore for land acquisition for Phase-2 (A) and Phase-2 (B) of Hyderabad Metro Rail. Telangana municipal elections: Reservations finalised for municipalities, corporations

Hyderabad: Telangana government has finalised reservations for Mayors of Municipal Corporations and chairpersons of Municipalities for the upcoming elections across the state.
