Cyberabad Police cracked down on Chinese Manja and held special drives across Kukatpally, Miyapur, Madhapur, KPHB, Jeedimetla, to remove the glass-coated thread from the roads, trees, power lines with the support of GHMC workers.

Shops selling kites and Manja were inspected and awareness programs were held for school students.

Police urged the public to report any sale or use of banned manja to local police and dispose it off if they come across it.

Five-year-old loses life after manja entangles around her neck:

On January 26, a five-year-old child was killed after a Chinese Manja slit her throat in Kukatpally area of the city. The child was traveling with her parents on a two-wheeler, when a manja got entangled around her neck, causing severe injuries. She bled profusely and succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
