New Delhi: In Andhra Pradesh, a tragic incident has taken place in which a 24-year-old woman has died by suicide. The heartbreaking death took place in the Krishna district.
The woman, before taking the extreme step, left behind a letter addressed to her brother. In the note, she wrote, "Be careful, little brother. This time, I may not be able to tie Rakhi on you".
The woman, identified as Srividya, was a college lecturer. Just six months ago, she got married to Rambabu, a village surveyor. As per her note, Srividya decided to take her life after facing incessant harassment that began only a month after their wedding took place.
The note detailed a pattern of brutal domestic abuse. Srividya wrote that Rambabu would return home drunk, violently assault her physically, and abuse her. He used to mock her, call her 'useless' in front of another woman. He even slammed her head against the bed and punched her in the back.
After a point in time, Srividya could not bear the relentless torture and harassment, and hence, she decided to take the drastic step. The local authorities have been informed about the incident, and the police are investigating the circumstances of Srividya's death.
In other news, a 23-year-old pregnant woman took her life in Kerala's Thrissur due to prolonged domestic violence. The woman died by suicide at her husband’s residence, where he and his mother subjected the woman to domestic abuse for a lengthy period. She narrated her ordeal in a chilling message to her mother before she took the extreme step.
