Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado met US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, marking their first face to face encounter since Trump directed a US military operation to seize Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

After the meeting, Machado asserted that they are counting on President Trump for the freedom of Venezuela. She earlier offered her Nobel Peace Prize to the US President.

Indian diaspora in Oman celebrates INSV Kaudinya voyage, Sanjeev Sanyal highlights revival of ancient maritime heritage

The Indian Diaspora, supported by the Indian Embassy in Oman, organised a programme to celebrate the successful voyage of INSV Kaudinya.

Member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM), Sanjeev Sanyal says, "The aim of the project was to reconstruct an ocean-going ship using the ancient Indian stitching technique and to revive cultural memories of ancient Indian maritime heritage... The first thing we did was draw a line drawing of what the Ajanta painting looked like... then see if we could correlate it with whatever serving-board building traditions existed... We also looked into Omani reconstruction... There was an Omani reconstruction called the Jewel of Muscat about 15 years ago. We also looked at that, and we got very helpful input from Captain Saleh, who had saved it... The project's conceptualisation took place in 2021-22.... By chance, I met Commander Hemant, who is a naval architect, and he is here with part of the crew... with his help, we got this line drawing made... We removed the three-mask model to a two-mask one because that would be much more practical. And we arrived at what would be a reasonable set of dimensions for the ship. The length is 21 meters, breadth 6.5 meters, depth 3.3 meters, approximately 50 tons, and a crew of about 18... This is all the detailing we started in 2022..."

Former pilot says ground equipment in dense fog caused engine damage to Air India Delhi–New York flight

On the Air India Delhi-New York flight suffering engine damage at Delhi airport, former pilot Capt. (Retd.) Ehsan Khalid says, "... The aircraft landed at Delhi, and thereafter it was taxiing back to its bay parking spot in very dense fog conditions, and while taxiing, it encountered a baggage container or a trolley that was left behind on the taxi track, and the container or parts of the container got sucked inside the engine, and the aircraft sustained damage... It is such an unfortunate accident... Indian aviation is expanding at a really fast rate, and we need to come up with a solid plan so that such incidents, which are 100% avoidable, could have been avoided." (15.01)
