The Karnataka government has reinstated four senior police officers who were suspended following a near-stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium earlier this year. The decision, announced recently, follows a directive from the Karnataka High Court.

The court had given the government a week to decide on the suspensions or face court intervention. The reinstated officers include former Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, former DCP Shekar HD, Deputy SP Balakrishna, and Inspector Giresh.

Their suspensions were imposed after an incident raising concerns about crowd control and police preparedness. Two inquiries, a magisterial inquiry and a judicial inquiry, investigated the event. After reviewing both reports and appeals from the officers, the government decided to lift the suspensions.
