New Delhi: Union Cabinet Minister and leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Ram Vilas Paswan, has stated that his party will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Paswan's remark, made during a rally at Rajendra Stadium in Chhapra, has ignited debate over its potential effects on the BJP-JD (U) coalition currently in power.
In the 2020 Bihar elections, the LJP contested 137 seats but secured only one victory. However, Paswan's subsequent triumph in the 2024 Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, where he decisively defeated Shiv Chandra Ram of the RJD, has rejuvenated his political career. His current position in the BJP-led NDA government complicates his party's ambitious election campaign.
Speaking at Rajendra Stadium in Chhapra, Paswan's recent announcement has prompted questions about its possible impact on the BJP-JD (U) alliance. Notably, in 2020, Paswan contested 137 seats but only won one. Yet, he made a comeback by winning the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in 2024 and now serves as a Cabinet Minister in Prime Minister Modi's government.
