New Delhi witnessed significant travel chaos on Monday as dense fog caused major disruptions at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Operations were severely impacted, leading to 128 flight cancellations, comprising 64 departures and 64 arrivals. Additionally, eight flights were diverted to alternative airports due to critically low visibility conditions.

The widespread impact extended to nearly 470 flights experiencing delays, affecting thousands of passengers planning to travel through one of Indias busiest aviation hubs.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport operator, reported improved runway visibility by 2:00 p.m., allowing flight operations to resume smoothly. However, a caution was issued regarding potential further disruptions to arrivals and departures, contingent on weather conditions at destination airports and the persisting foggy conditions across northern India, as noted by IndiGo. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines before travelling.
