Drama takes over Parliament despite PM Modi's no drama appeal. How much a wasted day costs exchequer

Ahead of the winter session, PM Modi appealed the Opposition to avoid drama and focus on delivering. PM Modi's appeal, however, was wasted as Opposition put up entire show to disrupt the working of the House. Instead of focusing on the work, Oppn. tried to corner Centre over Dhankar's farewell.

Later, a dog was spotted inside Parliament Complex inside Congress MP Renuka Choudhary's car. The video of a stray dog inside a Congress MP's official car soon went viral. Reacting to criticism, Congress MP Renuka said, "those who bite sit inside".

The estimated annual cost to run the Indian Parliament is around Rs 1,300 crore, or approximately Rs 2.5 lakh per minute of session time. For the 2025-26 budget, the Lok Sabha's budget is Rs 903 crore, and the Rajya Sabha's is Rs 413.89 crore. 

These costs cover salaries for Members of Parliament to Secretariat expenses, which include staff, building maintenance, and Sansad TV.
